Petit Mail Subscriptions for Kids
for the imaginative child.
for the child who loves to read.
Morning routines, bedtime routines.
Endless negotiating.
Trying to entertain, make a meal, tidy up, listen, diffuse tantrums, talk, remind.
Repeat.
I am constantly looking for ways to slow down and BE with them for a few moments.
To remind myself to put down the technology.
To be present.
To connect.
Two things that make it easier for me to create connection are reading and creative projects.
Both of these are a big part of the Petit Mail concept.
NJ would often ask if we could go to the mailbox together and I I decided that I wanted bright, fun mail for her to open so that she could experience the joy of receiving her very own mail.
I searched online, and found some lovely subscriptions for kids, but they were for slightly older children and I was looking for colourful letters from a boy or girl character, something targeted toward preschoolers and early readers . Nothing I found was quite right, so I decided to create my own product - Petit Mail, a double-sided colour story card, mailed in a bright colourful envelope each month and featuring the adventures of 2 characters, Oliver and Olivia.
Story cards are illustrated by the fabulous Heather Stillufsen who brings to life the characters that I have created. I believe in supporting small business wherever possible. Petit Mail story cards are printed at a small, locally owned print shop every month.
Overall, my goal for Petit Mail story cards is to provide quality moments to connect with your child.

Petit Mail: Connecting with my Daughter

As soon as my daughter NJ was walking, we would go on adventures to the mailbox at the end of our street. It was the perfect walking distance for her little legs. She loved the bright, colourful mail (usually flyers and advertising) and would carry those home and often play with them afterward.
As NJ got bigger, she went to daycare and I didn't have nearly as much time to spend with her on a daily basis.
Our walks to the mailbox, even though they were short, provided some special moments together to talk about her day.
